What is a activated RNA Nucleotide?

Activated RNA nucleotide is another term for the mono RNA nucleotide which contains tri phosphate affixed to the ribose sugar backbone. When active it may form an adjacent bond to the 3’ (OH group) of the growing RNA strand pairing to complementary bases. This however liberates a molecule of inorganic pyrophosphate (2 phosphates) resulting in strand stability.
